Dermaroller for Wrinkles
WHAT CAUSES WRINKLES
As you age, wrinkles and fine lines will begin to develop naturally as it is an unavoidable part of getting older. Your skin will become thinner, drier and less elastic, losing its ability to protect itself. It will also no longer be able to snap back into place, leading to the formation of creases and folds in the skin. Smoking, dehydration, overexposure to the sun, and even your facial expressions may also be causes of wrinkles developing.
HOW IT WORKS
This treatment is designed to kick start the production of fresh collagen in your skin to revitalise the upper layers. Dermaroller is also known as skin needling, with the process also triggering new skin cell growth, resulting in fresh skin tissue.
Using a sterile roller, a series of micro-needles will be introduced to your skin to create microscopic channels. This will cause minor damage, and is meant to boost the production of collagen and elastin by your body as a reaction to repair itself. Revitalising your skin, new skin cells will grow and results in your skin becoming thicker and more youthful. The microscopic channels also close up fairly quickly, allowing your skin to begin the healing process rapidly.
A customised serum will also be used to aid the recovery process, depending on your skin’s specifici needs. Fresh rollers are used to ensure hygiene, while a topical anaesthetic is also applied to prevent any discomfort or pain during the treatment. In addition, there is no chance of developing allergic reactions as the micro-needles are made from titanium alloys.
POST-TREATMENT
You can expect some minor skin inflammation, but this will fade in a few hours and takes about one full day to subside. The microscopic channels close quickly, meaning there is very little chance of infection.
The average patient tends to go for a minimum of 3 treatments, spaced 6 weeks apart for anti-aging, or 5 treatments for general scarring or acne scars. This number may vary depending on each individual, and your doctor will be on hand to offer advice and recommendations about an optimum number of treatment sessions.
