Dermaroller for Pores
WHAT CAUSES PORES?
When the presence of dirt and sebum begin to build up in oily skin, this results in the skin stretching and swelling up, making your pores look larger than usual. This can also happen when exposed to the sun as it triggers your skin into producing additional skin cells around the pores’ edges as an extra layer of protection against harmful UV rays; however, this will stretch them out. Pores can also be stretched out due to the effects of aging, as skin becomes less elastic and no longer snaps back into place. Large pores do not cause any harm, but some people may find them unsightly.
HOW IT WORKS
Also known as skin needling, Dermaroller promotes an increase in collagen production in your skin, rejuvenating the upper layers as well as catalysing the generation of newer skin cells to form fresh, healthy layers of skin tissue replacements.
Consisting of sharp micro-needles, your doctor will roll a sterile roller over your skin’s surface to create a series of microscopic channels. This damage is minor and is meant to promote the production of collagen and elastin in your body to heal itself. Fresh skin cells will grow during the process, resulting in your skin becoming revitalised and more youthful in appearance. Your skin will also begin the healing process as soon as possible, because the microscopic channels close up rapidly.
No discomfort or pain will be experienced during the procedure as a topical anaesthetic will be used. A customised serum will also be applied to the skin, depending on its condition as outlined during the consultation. In the interest of hygiene, a new roller is utilised each time with needles constructed from a titanium alloy, ensuring there is no risk of allergies.
POST-TREATMENT
There is almost no risk of infection because the microscopic channels close very quickly, but you may experience some skin inflammation. However, these will subside in a few hours and will usually disappear completely after a day.
Most patients will be subjected to 3 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart for general anti-aging. However, this number may change depending on your skin condition and desired outcome, and you should discuss this with your doctor in order to determine the optimum number for the best results.
