WHAT CAUSES AGE SPOTS

Age spots tend to be flat and either black, grey or brown in colour and is usually a result of overexposure to the sun. The harmful UV rays of the sun often trigger the production of melanin in your skin to protect itself.

However, age spots occur when the melanin production is confined to small spots across the skin. You may also develop them if you pick at your skin, or suffer from acne, inflammation, hormonal changes or some selected medicines like antibiotics. Although age spots are harmless, some people may find it aesthetically unpleasant.

POST-TREATMENT

The treatment only takes 20 minutes usually, but this may vary. You will not need any recovery time for this procedure, but you may experience a slight discomfort or tingling if your skin is sensitive – this should subside after a few hours. You can discuss your post-treatment maintenance with your doctor, who will also be on hand to offer advice regarding any aspects of the treatment.
