HOW IT WORKS

This is a substance essential to skin repair as it is a crucial element in the formation of new layers of skin. It will fill out areas in your face needing extra volume, and may also be manipulated to contour facial areas with excess volume. In addition, it may also help to reduce dark circles, eye bags, fine lines and wrinkles when the collagen begins to take effect.

Before the treatment, your doctor will choose and outline a specific area of treatment for you. Sculptra injections will be introduced into the lower skin layers, triggering the production of collagen in the skin, which also kickstarts the healing process and contouring or filling. The areas where fatty tissue has been reduced over the years will also start to fill out, which gives your face a shape that is more natural

The treatment only takes a few minutes and is completed swiftly. Most patients are recommended two sessions of treatment, but this depends on the skin condition as well as the desired results. Sculptra injections are also mixed with numbing medicine known as licodaine, helping to minimise the potential discomfort that individuals might experience.

Note that this procedure is not suitable for those suffering from autoimmune diseases such as lupus or arthritis.

POST-TREATMENT

Normally, results will start to be noticeable after 4-6 weeks as the collagen takes time to build up. Gradual improvements can be seen as your skin starts to thicken and your face begins filling out.

It is also recommended to go for a second treatment session to complete the facial sculpting process, with results able to last up to 3 years. Sessions tend to be spaced 1 month apart, and those aged above 50 can choose to undergo 3 sessions to get more favourable results.

Some mild redness and skin bruising can be expected, with redness subsiding within a few hours and the bruising fading within a week.
