Hi guys, I hope you are all having a fantastic long weekend and are spending quality time with your friends and loved ones. For today’s topic, I want to talk about a rather unorthodox type of exercise and probably one that has not crossed your radar.
 
Why Boxing?
You may think boxing is a sport whereby two people simply get into a ring and fight, but it’s actually a very healthy form of exercising as well. All over the world, boxing is well-known for its health benefits as well as the discipline it instils in those that pick it up.

All you need to do is head over to a gym that offers classes or employs boxing trainers and you can begin training. If you are worried about getting hurt, you don’t even need to spar against another person to reap the benefits of boxing!
 
What Benefits Can I Get?
For starters, boxing helps to improve your cardiovascular health and stamina tremendously. Boxing workouts keep your heart rate up, whether you are working on a punching bag or going through drills. It helps to moderately stress out your heart and lungs, challenging them to adapt physically to help support your body. It’s no secret that you need to be very fit to become a boxer, so the drills and techniques you learn will also help to improve your stamina and the health of your heart.
You will also naturally develop your strength, and not just in your arms only! Punching bags tend to weigh at least 100 pounds, and all the punching combinations and techniques that you practice help to work out your upper body, lower body and core muscles every time you hit that bag.

Boxing training is also well-rounded enough to incorporate other types of strength training into your routine, such as push-ups, medicine ball workouts and many more. However, you don’t need to go into hardcore training to ensure that your strength levels increase; you just need to consistently show up and you will notice gradual improvements. This makes everyday tasks a lot easier as well, such as carrying groceries home or shifting furniture around.
Apart from this, you will also naturally begin to lose fat or weight, as you build up your muscle. As an intensive workout, boxing will help you burn plenty of calories more quickly than you can eat them! The unique combination of strength exercises and sessions of cardio help to shape your body and burn off your excess fat. This can also be helped along by following a healthy and balanced diet, and you will definitely notice a huge improvement when you step on the weighing scales next time!

Last but not least, boxing helps you to relieve stress as all your pent up frustrations can be taken out on the punching bags or trainer pads. The release can be cathartic, and you will feel extremely empowered when pummelling the helpless bag into all corners of the room. Your hand-eye coordination will also improve while you do this. Not a bad way to work out at all!
