Exercise Does Not Have to be Boring!
Hi everyone, hope the week is treating you well.
Today, I want to tackle the universal topic of exercise once again. For many people, exercise is a chore and is simply not fun at all. The idea of sweating it out doing constant reps of squats and crunches or a mundane session on the treadmill is enough to demotivate anyone. The gym certainly has its benefits but the environment is not for everyone.
In a previous post, I highlighted three sports you can take up to replace exercise. Click here to read the original post.
If sports isn’t your thing, there are plenty of alternatives out there. Let’s take a look at some of them.
Walking your dog
Your dog requires daily exercise, just like you. Taking your canine out for a walk can be fun and relaxing, while burning calories at the same time. Of course, you won’t be burning massive amounts due to the leisurely pace but you are probably going to be more motivated to walk your dog daily than to cram in 3 long sessions per week on the treadmill. In addition, your dog will probably be pulling you along, forcing you to keep up.

Hiking with a group
Malaysia has plenty of scenic areas for you to enjoy a leisurely stroll along with a group of friends or family. Pick a place with a beautiful route and you will be surprised at how far you will be walking. Places with a hill to scale or a few rocks to climb will also add to the calories burnt, while the social aspect of the hike allows you to relax and have fun with people you enjoy being around.

Motion controlled video games
Yes, video games can give you a workout! There are several video game consoles these days that offer motion control, with the most popular being the Nintendo Wii and Xbox Kinect. There are even specific games that are aimed at giving you a workout through dancing, sports simulators or even fitness trainers. The Wii Fit is one such game that is designed for this purpose and unlike gym memberships, these are a 1-time purchase only! Don’t underestimate the effect that these games have; you will be sweating in no time!

Join a dance class
This will certainly get your cardio going and will also take care of the social aspect simultaneously. You can go with a friend or even alone to meet new people, and have fun while ensuring your body gets a moderate workout. Of course, some types of dance are more vigorous and tiring than others but it keeps your body moving and for most people, it is certainly a lot more enjoyable than a lonely swim at the pool.

Exercise does not have to be conventional as long as your body reaps the benefits of the activities you choose to do. Motivation is a key aspect when it comes to exercise, and is crucial for people to want to continue maintaining their fitness and figure. The more fun you have during your regular or out of the box workouts, the more you’ll want to continue keeping it up.
Till next time, have a great weekend ahead folks!
