Skin Peel for Pores
WHAT CAUSES PORES?
Dirt and sebum often build up underneath your skin, especially if it is oily. This causes large pores to form as the skin will swell up, stretching out the pores in the process. Overexposure to the sun can also be a cause of large pores, as your skin will begin generating additional skin cells around the edges of pores as an extra layer of protection against the UV rays; however, this also stretches out pores. Aging will also cause your skin to lose its tightness and elasticity, resulting in your skin sagging and no longer snapping back into place, stretching out pores in the process.
HOW IT WORKS
Also known as chemical peel, skin peel is highly effective and is recommended for males and females of all ages. It helps to eliminate the top layers of your skin, with a peeling solution used to catalyse the natural skin peeling process. This will reveal a fresh layer of healthy skin underneath, while old, dead skin cells are removed.
`
We use a trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel at Premier Clinic, which is one of the original peels used for skin rejuvenation. However, other types of peels are also available depending on the condition of your skin. During the consultation, your doctor will offer advice when choosing a peel best suited for your needs.
You should experience a burning sensation but a cooling device will be held over your face, with
cold air blowing out to help reduce the sting. After completion, cold compresses will be applied to help with the cooling process.
The peel’s intensity and effectiveness may be increased with multiple applications but this depends on your skin condition, type and desired outcome. You can expect to see improvements after each session, regardless of the peel type.
POST TREATMENT
Most people are subject to a cycle of 2-4 peels, but this is also depending on the skin condition as well as the desired results. You should consult with your doctor to agree on a suitable number of peels in order to get the best results. Sessions are usually spaced 4 weeks apart.
Do avoid sun exposure when possible, and apply sunscreen lotion. The moisturiser provided should also be used for up to 1 week, or until your skin is no longer sensitive.
