Skin Peel for Age Spots
WHAT CAUSES AGE SPOTS?
Age spots are a problem that occur when your skin tries to protect itself from the sun’s UV rays by producing melanin. Focused in a series of tiny spots, the melanin production may actually lead to the formation of grey, black or brown spots across your skin.
This may also result in hyperpigmentation, as the concentrated melanin clumps together in a small patch of skin instead of several spots. It also tends to be darker in colour compared to age spots.
HOW IT WORKS
Skin peel is suitable for both males and females of all ages, and is often referred to as chemical peel. It helps to get rid of the top skin layer, which reveals a new and healthy layer underneath, while a peeling solution triggers natural peeling of the skin layer above. As a result, dead skin cells are eliminated while the fresh skin layer is smoother and healthier than the previous one.
We use a trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel at Premier Clinic, one of the original peels used for rejuvenation of the skin. Other types of peels are available and depends on your particular skin condition, and this will be discussed during your first consultation session.
The solution will be applied on your skin, during which you should experience a burning sensation – this is the solution taking effect. A device will blow cool air onto your face in order to help reduce the sting, and cold compresses will be used to help the cooling process upon completion.
Its effect and intensity can be increased by applying more than one later to your skin, but this is dependent on your skin type and your desired results. After each session, you should notice improvements regardless of the type of skin peel utilised.
POST TREATMENT
A single cycle usually consists of 2-4 peels, but this may vary depending in your personal needs and condition. Your doctor will advise you on a suitable number of peels for optimal results, and each session is spaced 4 weeks apart. You should stay away from the sun and use sunscreen lotion, as well as using the moisturiser provided for up to 1 week or until your skin is no longer sensitive.
BEFORE / AFTER
