Radiesse Filler Face Injection
We all want to look youthful and age gracefully, but lifestyle and environmental factors do take their toll on our bodies and skin. Late nights, unhealthy diet choices, smoking and drinking, stress at work and at home, and environmental pollution, etc. are all detrimental to our health.
As time goes by, the signs of ageing start to set in, such as sagging skin, as well as wrinkles and folds on the face. This is due to the depletion of collagen, which has kept our skin supple and elastic.
Everybody wants to look their best, but please note that before you get a non-invasive anti-aging skin treatment, you should consult a qualified dermatologist, who will be able to advise you on the best and most suitable treatments for your face and skin.
What is Radiesse Filler?
Radiesse is a high-quality face filler that gives you immediate and long-lasting results. It was approved by the FDA in 2006. Since then, it has been used to treat patients in over 57 countries.
Radiesse filler has the dual action of adding volume under the skin, while also stimulating your body to produce its own natural collagen over time. In the best results, the natural youthful look in our patients has lasted a year or more.
Why Should You Choose Radiesse?
When people age, they lose their collagen. Collagen is the key compound which gives the skin a smooth, supple and youthful appearance. This leads to the formation of wrinkles and loss of facial volume. Folds and wrinkles will tend to form on particular parts of the face.
Radiesse filler can give you a refreshed and rejuvenated look after just one treatment. It is a volumising filler that produces an instant lift for sagging skin. The wrinkles and folds on your face will be smoothened, while the stimulation of natural collagen production will help to prolong and enhance its youthful effect.
How Radiesse Works
Radiesse is made of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA). The CaHA microspheres in the Radiesse filler are suspended in an aqueous gel carrier. After the treatment, Radiesse provides immediate volume and correction but continues to work by stimulating the body to produce its own natural collagen. The gel is slowly absorbed by the body, and the CaHA microspheres are metabolized, leaving behind only your own natural collagen.
A session usually takes 30-60 minutes. Before beginning the treatment, makeup is removed (if applicable). Then, the area is cleaned with an antiseptic solution. A topical numbing cream will normally be applied and a local anaesthetic is administered before treatment commences, to minimize any discomfort. Radiesse will then be injected into the skin. During the treatment, a chiller will be used to help reduce any side effects.
Benefits of Using Radiesse Filler
Radiesse is a volumising filler that provides an instant lift. It smoothens wrinkles and folds immediately by filling them. You will enjoy a more youthful and refreshed look. After the treatment, Radiesse continues to stimulate the natural production of collagen. In many patients, this natural youthful appearance can last up to a year or more.
Radiesse filler is suitable for correcting:
- Smile lines (running from the sides of the nose to the corners)
- Marionette lines (beginning at the corners of the mouth, extending down toward the chin)
- The corners of the mouth
- Chin wrinkle lines
The volumising effects of Radiesse can last up to a year or more, but the results may vary depending on the individuals treated.
What You Should Not Do After Treatment
Post treatment, patients are advised to avoid hot bathing and vigorous exercise for 24 hours. As an additional precautionary step, it is also better to avoid over-exposure to the sun and UV light for 1 week.
Side Effects and Safety
Approved by the FDA since 2006, Radiesse is a quick in-office procedure, which incurs little or no down time. A session can be completed in about 30 minutes. Usually, patients can resume most of their regular daily activities after the treatment.
Injections of the substances contained in Radiesse do not cause chronic inflammatory or immune responses. Thus, allergy testing is not required prior to injection.
The potential side effects include mild irritation, bruising, swelling, itching and tenderness at the injection sites. However, these signs and symptoms will disappear within 2 weeks. If there is swelling, ice can be applied for a few minutes at a time to the affected area. Wrap the ice in a cloth and avoid placing the ice directly on your skin.
