q-Switch Nd: YAG Laser for Dull Skin
WHAT CAUSES DULL SKIN?
As you get older, dull skin is a common and natural part of the process and has several causes. However, the most common reason is getting less than 7 hours of sleep each night. This is likely due to the busy city lifestyle that we are accustomed to, with work and other commitments taking up long hours, leaving you with little time to recover.
Wrinkles, eye bags and dark eye circles will start forming, which adds on to the tired appearance of your skin. This also makes the skin drier and thinner, which can result in dead skin cells piling up on the surface; this can also worsen if your diet is unbalanced. If you do not cleanse your skin properly, it may also lead to dull skin as dirt will clog the pores, making it tough for your skin to breath.
HOW IT WORKS
Using the q-Switch Nd:YAG laser to treat the affected area, it emits high energy light that works to get rid of the dull skin cells. This then creates an environment where your skin is encouraged to grow a new, healthy layer of skin to replace the old one. The laser can penetrate deep into your skin without harming the upper layer. This also triggers collagen production in your skin, which is a crucial substance needed in skin repair.
This laser treatment is not painful, and is swift and suitable for all types of skin. It may also help to lighten the tone of your skin and improve your complexion, giving it a more youthful outlook.
q-Switch Nd:YAG laser might not be suitable if:
- You have taken Roaccutane in the last 6 months
- The treatment area has dermatitis or is infected
- You are pregnant
- Abnormal wound healing or keloid scarring
- Using light sensitising medication
- You suffer from seizures triggered by light
POST-TREATMENT
You may return to your daily activities without any problems since there is no downtime required. Some mild skin redness may be experienced but it should subside in approximately 30 minutes.
Improvements will be gradually noticeable over the next few months, and each subsequent session should result in your skin recovering more. Treatment cycles usually consist of 6 sessions spaced 2 weeks apart, but this may vary.
