What Is Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)?
Hi everyone, I hope you are having a lovely weekend so far and are enjoying some well-deserved rest. For today’s topic, I want to talk about a new treatment that we are offering, known as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). This treatment is suitable for hair transplants to treat bald spots or receding hairlines, which is a common problem for many people who are aging. Allow me to explain the procedure further.

Introduction
Follicular unit extraction is a fairly new aesthetic procedure which aims to treat bald spots, receding hairlines or other issues with patients’ hair. The technique was first developed in Japan in 1988, and has since been refined and improved further; today it is one of the most popular methods to aesthetically fix problems with hair. The procedure is very effective, and the best thing about it is that results are permanent! Not only that, it also looks natural, so you will not feel self-conscious as no one will be able to tell the difference.

Perhaps the most recent and high profile patient of follicular unit extraction is the famous Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney. As a public figure, he is subject to plenty of scrutiny and ridicule, which resulted in him finally taking the plunge to fix his receding hairline. If FUE is good enough for such a high profile figure like Rooney, it is certainly good enough for you!
How It Works
Follicular unit grafts, also known as hair follicles, are removed strand by strand from a specified donor area. These strands are then transplanted one by one into the recipient area in order to cover up the bald spots or the thinning. It is a minor surgical procedure that is minimally invasive and is done using a specialised precision tool which does not leave any linear scarring, ensuring you do not need to worry about deep scarring. In addition, the procedure does not require any stitches so you do not need to worry about how the area will look after the hair follicles are removed.
There is also no cause for concern about the donor area looking bare or bald; this is because the hairs that have been removed will grow back naturally in a few days, ensuring that the missing hairs will barely be noticeable at all. The procedure is not painful, but you will encounter some discomfort as the process removes hairs one by one.

After the procedure, most patients are able to resume their daily activities without any problems and many can return to work the following day. The procedure can be done in a single session, but this may depend on your specific condition and will be discussed with the doctor during your consultation session.
