Are You Tired All The Time? – Part 1

by | Feb 4, 2015

Hi guys, hope everyone is having a great week so far. Today’s topic will explore a subject I’m sure many of you are familiar with.

Fatigue is a common experience for a lot of people, especially those with full-time jobs. In addition, the hectic lifestyle of the city combined with social commitments only serve to make these individuals more tired than ever. Even after a full night’s sleep, they may wake up feeling more tired than when they went to bed. Why?

Not Getting the Right Nutrients
This is a fairly common cause of tiredness and may be caused by individuals on diets of all kinds, whether it is to build up muscle or to shed a few kilogrammes. If you are tired all the time, your body may be lacking vitamin B12. B12 is very important to your body and is used to produce red blood cells – this helps to keep the neurons working efficiently.

Your body also needs plenty of iron to produce red blood cells and a lack of it may lead to a lower count of red blood cells. These cells transport oxygen all over your body, so naturally the less red blood cells there are, the less oxygen the rest of your body gets. This is one of the reasons why you may be feeling excessively tired. However, do note that too much iron may also lead to fatigue. Energy, vitamins and minerals are used by your body to eliminate excess iron, which also leaves less vitamins and minerals for itself.

Diabetes and Heart Disease
Individuals with diabetes suffer from having too much sugar in their bloodstream – this means it does not get converted to energy. No matter how much you eat, the sugar will remain in your blood and not enter your body. As there is less energy for the body, naturally fatigue will begin to set in.

If you find yourself feeling completely spent after doing routine activities such as going shopping, cooking or cleaning, it may be a sign that your heart is in poor condition. Tiredness after everyday tasks may be mistakenly attributed to low energy levels, but it may also indicate a failing heart.

Fatigue is one of the most common symptoms of both diabetes and heart disease, and if you find yourself feeling very tired all the time, it is best to seek a medical opinion from a qualified doctor. If left undiagnosed, the consequences can be very dire later in life, and it is always better to err on the side of caution.

Too Much Exercise
Exercise is meant to be good for you, but like everything else, it’s best in moderation. While it is great to stay in shape and keep fit, bear in mind that pushing your body past its limits can result in severe fatigue and even cause sleep problems. Intensive workouts and endurance training may result in physical stress piling on your body, leading to you tiring easily.

In my next post, I will continue to explore other potential causes of fatigue and excessive tiredness. Until next time!
